Welcome to Dream class (Year 4)

A very warm welcome to Year 4 and DREAM class where

‘We believe in our dreams because they were given to us for a reason’

I am Miss Timperley and my ‘right hand lady’ is Miss Barlow. We have the pleasure of working alongside 24 amazingly enthusiastic children who are all eager to achieve new goals through a fun and faithful learning environment.

So far this school year we have really enjoyed investigating and exploring our new curriculum. We have journeyed along our path of faith to learn all about different families and how we are all one big family belonging to God our Father. We have explored the ancient civilisations of Egypt and been mesmerised by the amazing things they did which impact on the way we live today. Maths has continued to be a huge success, following the Maths No Problem scheme and we have been recapping our knowledge of number and place value up to 10,000! Our literacy focus has taken us on an intriguing journey as we have explored ‘The Cat Mummy’ by Jacqueline Wilson, developing our complex writing skills to engage our readers. We are super excited to continue climbing our reward chart and fill our class marble jar for our fantastic attitude to learning.

Little reminders

  • P.E kits need to be in school every Monday
  • TOP 10 BOOKS! Reading even one page every evening can make a HUGE difference and children receive rewards after reading 3, 5 and all 10 of our top ten reading books so encourage your child to share their book with you.
  • Reading books will be changed every Friday (please note that books will only be changed once your child has read through them confidently) Therefore could we please request that you make a note in your child's reading record every time they read to you at home. This feedback really helps us to support your child's reading development and of course, their enjoyment.
  • Spellings will be sent home every Friday for your children to practise, ready for their spelling 'quiz' the following Friday morning. They will be linked to the Year 3/4 common exception words.
  • Times tables books will be sent home every Friday, marked and new ones recommended for the following week.
  • Homework projects are given out every half term and their due date for completion is always written on the front cover (this is usually the Monday of the last week before the half term holidays)
