P.E. Clothing

Proper clothing and footwear are essential in all P.E. and games lessons for reasons of health and safety.  The children need a P.E. kit for gym work indoors, and in Key Stage 2 suitable kit for outdoor games and/or games on the field.  All children must change for P.E.  All children are expected to participate in P.E. unless they have a sick note excusing them.  Kits should be left in school during term time in a pump bag, to hang on their peg, and then taken home to be washed during the holidays.

Trainers are suitable for summer games lessons (rounders, cricket, etc.)

Children need a swimming costume and towel, when they have an opportunity to swim.  A swimming cap (may be purchased from the office) is required if your child has long hair.  Swimwear should be brought to school in a separate waterproof bag, sensible size please due to lack of space. Goggles cannot be worn and children are advised not to take talcum powder into the changing rooms. Swimming is open to Years 3 – 6 on a weekly basis.

Hairstyles

Hairstyles and colouring: Parents should be aware that we do not permit extremes of fashion in students’ hairstyles. Hair colouring is not permitted. Close shaved heads, any shorter than a number 2 and patterns cut into hair are not acceptable. Very short hairstyles including extreme hairstyles (e.g. where some hair is very short and the rest isn’t) are not acceptable. Students who have shoulder length hair, or longer, may be required to tie it back for health and safety reasons and/or if it obscures the face.

Jewellery

Jewellery is not permitted in school!  Earrings, bracelets and necklaces must not be worn.

If parents require their children’s ears to be pierced this MUST be done at the beginning of the summer break.  This will give the required healing time to enable the earrings to be removed before attending school.
