Caritas comes from the Latin language and means LOVE. It is a special kind of love - a charitable love for humankind.

Caritas leads us to Faith In Action.

Caritas is a charity which helps the most needy without judgement. They are the “home” charity of the Diocese of Salford and have over 24 different projects spread across Salford Diocese. Caritas work closely with CAFOD and many other partners and charities and are part of CSAN and Caritas International.

At Our Lady and Saint Anselm's, our faith calls us to love God and our neighbours in every situation, particularly our brothers and sisters living in poverty. We aspire to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love, and peace of God by following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

It is essential that all children at Our Lady and Saint Anselm's are to be spiritually, morally, socially and culturally educated. Alongside our SMSC learning, Caritas in Action is entwined throughout our curriculum to bring us closer to God,

 “Ubi caritas Deus ibi est.”

Caritas in Action, a document produced by Salford Diocese as a response to Catholic Social Teaching, calls us all as Catholics to work for the common good, help build a just society, uphold the dignity of human life and work for justice and the dignity of all our brothers and sisters.
