Whilst we celebrate and nurture our Catholic identity we are proud and eager to share this gift with children and families of other faiths within our close community here in Whitworth.
We want our children, staff and parents to meet Jesus Christ each day through their relationships with one another. Jesus who is our role model has taught us to share our many gifts with others, forgive those who have wronged us in any way and strive to be the best that we can be. As a school community we can journey together so that we can ultimately share in Almighty God’s heavenly kingdom.
This year we have written a new class prayer . It helps us to think about our school mission.
As a group of Catholic schools in the Rossendale valley we have decided to dedicate the academic year 2016-2017 to prayer our school GIFT Teams are meeting up throughout the year to share prayer ideas before leading collective worship back in school.
At the start of the Year of Mercy we discussed ways in which God shows us his mercy. Each month a different class prepared an assembly for the whole school and made a banner for their door. Here are our beautiful banners!
All Loving Father,
you sent Jesus your Son
to show us Your mercy
and to teach us how to forgive one another.
Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us.
Help us to remember that we are all sinners
this Year of Mercy has been a pilgrimage,
a journey back to You.
Make us ambassadors of mercy,
sharing Your forgiveness with everyone,
especially those who feel
that they are beyond Your love.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen
