Sacrament of Reconciliation

Our children on their Sacramental Journey received their Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in church today.  Afterwards we had a prayer session in our forest area where we reflected on the things we have done wrong and asked God to forgive us.

Ash Wednesday Topic Afternoon

"What a fantastic afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed all the activities."

"Fantastic topic afternoon, unique things to do :)"

"Lovely afternoon, loved the prayer time at the end."

"I enjoyed spending such a lovely reflective time with my granddaughter, thank you."

Prayer Promises

Mighty Lord,

We will help the men, the children and the women if they need help in any situation.  We promise to share our love and kindness so everyone feels respected and cared for to make our planet a better place.

Amen.

By Albert and Henry

Dear God,

I promise to be kinder to others and elders in my house and in my family.  I promise to be more respectful to the class and friends.  I promise to look after the world more to make it clean and tidy so animals don't get hurt or stuck in things like a packet of crisps or a wrapper.

Amen.

Natural Photo Frames

Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so.  The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it Genesis 1:11-12

We went out into our forest area to collect natural resources to make a photo frame. We then placed in it a class photo to remind ourselves that we are all friends and we are all working together.

Class Masses

We have had two class masses this year with Fr Chris.  At each one we have had some of our parents and grandparents join us.

We enjoy celebrating our masses together.  Fr Chris is taking time to explain different parts of our mass to us to help us as we make our Sacramental Journey.

"It was a pleasure to be able to share this mass with the children, it was a pleasure to be part of it.  I'll be joining the next one."

"It was a lovely service and all the children were very respectful.  Thank you for letting me be part of it."

Class Worship

We gather twice a week to prayer and reflect together.  Below are some of the themes that we have thought about.

Remembrance and the Month of the Holy Souls

"I liked writing prayers for all those who have died."

"I prayed for my Grandad."

Community Matthew 18:20

"I feel loved by friends and family, we are all loved by someone, love makes me happy."

"It makes me feel special and safe to be part of a community."

"I feel that everybody is special and God is always around us in our community."

"Community reminds me that God is always with me."

The Parable of the Talents Matthew 25:14-30

2 Timothy 4:22

CAFOD

We had a CAFOD visitor come into class to teach us about how we care for our world.

Class Prayer

Our class prayer is the Act of Contrition:

O my God

Because you are so good

I am very sorry that I have sinned against you

And by the help of your grace.

I will try not to sin again.

Amen

Christ the King

To celebrate the feast of Christ the King we each made our own crown.

"So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” John 18:33-37

Jubilee Year of Hope

We launched our Year of Hope with a special morning of celebrations.

Topic Afternoons

We enjoy sharing our learning with our parents during our topic afternoons.

In our first topic afternoon we learnt about the work of St Teresa of Lisieux.  With our parents and grandparents we thought about the 'Little Ways' we make a different to people in our lives.
